Kerri
Photos taken today south of Houston. Pretty sure this is a Mississippi Kite - will be a lifer for me so just wanted confirmation. I was sitting in my truck at lunch watching a local bird feeder and I happened to look up and saw this beautiful bird soaring. It never flapped its' wings once. Just big lazy circles going higher and higher. Was beautiful to watch.
akandula
Mississippi Kite is correct! The short first primary is diagnostic. Additionally, the dark tail rules out the similar White-tailed Kite. Congrats! 1
